The Arbitrary ChuckJerry

Every time I hear about Dubya's approval rating it's always at "a new low". I've heard this so often in the past year that it would seem that his approval should be in the negative at this point, but it always just hovers around 30 - 35%. That's low, but it doesn't seem like a new low. It's been that way for a year now.

A better question is, who are the 30% of people who approve of Dubya? Even if you agree with everything he does, doesn't the way he goes about just kinda creep you out a little bit? The secrecy and funny faces and smugness and all. I tell you, I just don't like it.

The Daily Show is amazing. Last night's episode had a thing about Bush's choice to run the CIA, Michael Hayden. They did the usual making fun of Bush and what not and then they showed a clip from the news conference:

"Michael Hayden is supremely qualified for this position. He's the right man to lead this important agency at this critical moment in our nation's history."

Then they cut to a clip of him appointing Porter Goss to the job 2 years ago:

"Porter Goss is the right man to lead this important agency at this critical moment in our nation's history."

Fucking fantastic. It's almost as good as playing back to back "I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Ms. Lewinsky.", "Indeed I did have sexual relations with Ms. Lewinsky."
